  Board of Directors
 

IPDC's Board of Directors has eleven members, of which two are nominated by the Government of Bangladesh including the Chairman. The Secretary of the Ministry of Industries is the current Chairman of the Board. Seven are nominated by AKFED, one is independent director and the other one is Managing Director.

 
  Chairman
 
Dr. Md. Nurul Amin 
Dr. Md. Nurul Amin, 54 years old, is currently serving as Secretary, Ministry of Industries of the Government of Bangladesh. After joining the Cadre Service in 1976, Mr. Amin served in Ministries of L.G.R.D, Fisheries and Livestock, and Communications in various capacities. Besides serving as the Chairman of the Board of IPDC, he is also the Chairman of the Boards of BASIC Bank Limited and Karnaphuli Fertilizer Company Limited (KAFCO) and seats as a Director on the Board of British American Tobacco Bangladesh Limited. Mr. Amin has a brilliant academic career securing distinctive positions in all public and graduate level examinations. He has widely traveled and received advanced level of management and administration training abroad.

Mr. M. Mahbubur Rahman
Nominated Director, GOB  
Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman, a senior member of the Bangladesh Civil Service, obtained his Honors and Masters Degree in Economics from the University of Rajshahi. He then did his M.Phil Degree in Economic Development from the University of Glasgow, Scotland in the year 1990. Mr. Rahman joined the Bangladesh Bank as an Assistant Director and worked there for about 13 months. He then jointed the Bangladesh Civil Service as an Assistant Commissioner in 1983 and subsequently he worked at different levels of the Government both in the field and different ministries. At present, he holds the rank of an Additional Secretary to the Government of Bangladesh and is working as the Chairman of Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) under Ministry of Industry. Apart from his official assignment, he is serving as a director on the Board of Directors of three banks and financial institutions, namely BASIC Bank, Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank and IPDC. He has been serving in the Board of Directors of IPDC since April 2006.
 
Mr. Altaf Hussain 
Nominated Director, AKFED
Mr. Altaf Hussain, 62 years old, is a Master of Commerce from Hailey College of Commerce (secured 1 st class-2 nd in Punjab University ). He is a Gold Medalist from the same college as he topped in the Punjab University and set a new record in his B.Com (Hons.) Degree. He is a seasoned banker and served Habib Bank Limited, a leading international bank of Pakistan for about 39 years in various positions. He has extensively worked on overseas assignments which include his posting as Regional General Manager-Gulf, General Manager Bahrain and Managing Director of a Finance Company in Kuwait. Prior to his retirement, he was the Senior Executive Vice President of Habib Bank Limited. He is a director on the Board of IPDC since May 2005.
 
Mr. Shabir Kassam
Nominated Director, AKFED
Mr. Shabir Kassam, 50 years old, and has over 31 years experience in accounting and banking. He is fellow of the Association of Certified Accountants (FCAA UK) and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA Australia). He is currently working as a global consultant primarily in the banking sector and is alos a Director of Development Credit Bank in India. He is a member on the Board of Directors of IPDC since January 21, 2004.
 
Mr. Sulaiman Ajanee
Nominated Director, AKFED

Mr. Sulaiman Ajanee, 44 years old, is an Associate in Industrial Engineering. Mr. Ajanee is Vice Chairman, National Committee, Aga Khan Foundation and Chairman, Aga Khan Education Service, Bangladesh . He is a member on the Board of Directors of IPDC since January 21, 2004.
 
Mr. Shabbir Hashmi
Independent Director

Mr. Shabbir Hashmi, 46 years old, is a B.Sc. (Engg.) and an MBA, who has over 20 years of experience in Development Economics, Project Finance and Private Equity. Mr. Hashmi joined CDC Capital Partners in 1994 and is currently posted in Pakistan as Director Bangladesh and Pakistan . He is acting as a director on the Board of IPDC since 1999.
 
Mr. Kamaluddin A. Aziz 
Nominated Director, AKFED
Mr. Kamaluddin A. Aziz, 55 years old, has over 30 years of experiences in managing the largest food industry in Bangladesh- Bombay Sweets & Co. Ltd. He is the former president of Aga Khan Council (retired on December 13th, 2005) and member of Aga Khan Foundation for the same period. He has 20 years of experiences of successfully managing Dairy Industry- Kuliarchar Dairy Complex. He has also served as the Tricepack Ltd. for 7 years and Kawan Food (BD) Ltd.  for 3 years as pioneer Managing Director. He is a member on the Board of Directors of IPDC since January 2006.
 
Mr. Shahid Mahmood Loan
Nominated Director, AKFED
Mr. Shahid Mahmood Loan has a banking experience with Habib Bank Limited (HBL) spreading over a period of 40 years in all segments of banking. He has extensively worked in the overseas on various coveted assignments i.e. Head of Offshore Banking in Bahrain and CEO of Himalayan Bank Ltd., Nepal (Joint Venture of HBL). He also held very senior executive positions in domestic banking sector and worked as Senior Executive Vice President & Head of the Audit & Inspection and also as Global Treasurer. Presently he is serving as the Chairman of Board of Directors of Kirghistan Investment & Credit Bank and also holding directorship of New Jubilee Insurance Company of Pakistan . He is on the board of IPDC as a director since May 2007.
 
Mr. Xavier Lucas
Nominated Director, AKFED
Mr. Xavier Lucas, 37 years old, is a graduate of a leading business school in France and CPA. After 7 years with Ernst & Young in France and in Japan , he joined AKFED in 2002 where he involved in the strategy and financial monitoring of AKFED financial services companies. He is a director on the Board of IPDC and Chairman of the Audit Committee since October 2006 and serves as a Director of a number of companies of the AKFED group in South and Central Asia and East Africa .
 
Mrs. Ashraf Ali
Nominated Director, AKFED
Mrs. Ashraf Ali is a Masters in Political Science from Dhaka University . She worked for British Airways as Sales Manager for 22 years and took early retirement in 2000. During her tenure with British Airways she won many awards for outstanding performances. She is involved with community work, and served as the President of the Aga Khan National Council for Bangladesh from 1993-1999 and a member of the National committee, Aga Khan Foundation  Bangladesh during this period. She is a director on the Board of IPDC since October 2006.
 

Mr. Masih-ul-Huq Chowdhury  
Managing Director and CEO
Mr. Masih-ul-Huq Chowdhury (43) is holding the position of Managing Director & CEO of IPDC of Bangladesh Limited since July 27, 2008. Prior to his joining IPDC, he was employed with Standard Chartered Bank as the Regional Head of Consumer Credit (SME) for West Africa based in Nigeria. Mr. Chowdhury has 16 years of enriching Banking career at home and abroad with three of the world’s most renowned financial institutions i.e. Standard Chartered Bank, American Express Bank and Citi Bank N.A. He served in different capacities under Corporate, Consumer and Global Markets with these organizations during the tenure.
